The Leo M. Davidoff Department of Neurological Surgery is driven by a mission to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for patients with disorders affecting the nervous system, including the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Each service within the department endeavors to optimize the patient journey using a patient-centered approach, to engage in high-impact translational research and to provide exceptional education and mentorship of students, residents, fellows and faculty.

Montefiore Einstein’s experts are one of the first in the nation to advance the standard of care for cranial reconstructions, improving the correction of cranial deformities in children and guiding parents on surgical outcomes.

Novel Application of Elastography for the Evaluation and Treatment of Hydrocephalus

Using a new type of MRI, called Magnetic Resonance Elastography, our researchers unlock hidden properties of the brain, previously unrecognized with standard MRI techniques, to gain an unprecedented understanding of the relationship between fluid spaces and the structural integrity and stiffness of brain tissue.
