Montefiore Einstein Gastroenterology Celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Bronx Live Endoscopy Course

The 10th annual Bronx Live Endoscopy Course featured real-time demonstrations of advanced endoscopic techniques and emerging innovations by nationally recognized experts, broadcast live from Montefiore Einstein’s state-of-the-art endoscopy suites.

On September 12, 2025, Montefiore Einstein Gastroenterology hosted the 10th Annual Bronx Live Endoscopy Course, marking a decade of leadership in advanced endoscopic education. The one-day Program delivered immersive, real-time demonstrations of complex endoscopic procedures and the latest innovations in endoscopy, broadcast live from Montefiore Einstein’s state-of-the-art endoscopy suites. Offered in a hybrid format, the course allowed participants to observe live cases both on-site and virtually, with approximately 100 attendees participating in person and nearly 1,000 clinicians joining remotely from locations worldwide.

The course was directed by Sammy Ho, MD, Associate Professor of Medicine and Director of Interventional Endoscopic Services and the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship at Montefiore Einstein, who has served as Course Director since the Program’s inception. Designed to address the rapid evolution of endoscopic technology and clinical practice, the course provided participants with direct exposure to advanced gastrointestinal (GI) procedures performed in a live clinical setting.

Each Bronx Live Endoscopy Course typically features approximately 15 live cases performed in Montefiore Einstein’s endoscopy suites, providing participants with in-depth exposure to a broad range of advanced endoscopic procedures. At the 10th annual Bronx Live Endoscopy Course, nationally recognized faculty led live case transmissions and moderated panel discussions focused on advanced techniques, quality improvement and evidence-based decision-making for commonly encountered and complex challenges in gastroenterology. Featured procedures included endoscopic ultrasound–guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA), EUS-guided cyst-gastrostomy, EUS-guided necrosectomy, fiducial placement, ampullectomy, lithotripsy for complex stone disease, hilar stricture management, advanced stenting techniques, difficult polypectomy, advanced colonoscopy techniques and fecal transplantation.

“Our goal is to expose participants to the most up-to-date and advanced endoscopic techniques in a real-time clinical environment,” said Dr. Ho. “This live format allows clinicians to observe complex cases as they unfold and gain practical insights that can be directly translated into improved patient care.”

Designed for practicing gastroenterologists, endoscopists, fellows, residents, nurses and advanced practice providers, the Bronx Live Endoscopy Course underscores Montefiore Einstein’s commitment to advancing education, research and clinical excellence in gastroenterology. The activity was jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). As one of New York State’s largest continuing education–accredited providers, Montefiore Einstein designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.

Montefiore Einstein is ranked in the top 1% of all hospitals in the nation for gastroenterology and GI surgery, according to U.S. News & World Report, and serves as an international referral site for the most complex GI cases. Building on the success of its milestone 10th year, Montefiore Einstein Gastroenterology will host the 11th annual Bronx Live Endoscopy Course in September 2026, continuing its commitment to advancing innovation and excellence in endoscopic care.
