Montefiore Einstein Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Broadens Regional Access with New Mount Vernon Practice
Montefiore Einstein’s Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation has expanded its regional footprint with the opening of new office space at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital. This milestone marks an important step in the department’s ongoing effort to increase access to world-renowned physiatry care. The new practice brings Montefiore Einstein’s internationally recognized expertise directly to the Mount Vernon community, offering convenient access to the same high-quality, patient-centered care that has long distinguished the department.
Located at Montefiore Mount Vernon Hospital, the new clinical space enhances care for patients with musculoskeletal, spine, and neurologic conditions by providing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment options in a modern, patient-centered environment. As part of this expansion, the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation now offers an inpatient consult service, interventional spine care, outpatient evaluations, and in-office image-guided procedures, all focused on reducing pain, restoring function, and improving quality of life.
In the coming months, Montefiore Einstein plans to further expand clinical offerings at Mount Vernon to include cryotherapy for spasticity management and percutaneous tenotomy, also known as tendon fenestration. This minimally invasive procedure is used to treat chronic tendinopathies that are refractory to conservative management and can be performed under ultrasound guidance to precisely target diseased tissue. This expansion builds on the expertise of Montefiore Einstein faculty, who have authored recent peer-reviewed studies on ultrasound-guided percutaneous tenotomy, including analyses of TENEX® technology and durable one-year clinical outcomes. These additions will broaden the department’s interventional capabilities and provide patients with effective alternatives to more invasive surgical procedures.
The opening of the Mount Vernon practice reflects the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation’s long-standing commitment to expanding access to high-quality physiatry care across the region. As part of a multi-year growth strategy, the department continues to invest in locations that bring expert rehabilitation services closer to the communities that need them most.
