Allison M. Martin, MD, Receives Hyundai Hope Scholar Grant

Hyundai Hope On Wheels recognized Allison M. Martin, MD, Attending Physician, Pediatric Hematology, Oncology, Marrow and Blood Cell Transplantation, Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein, and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics, Microbiology and Immunology, Albert Einstein College of Medicine, for her lab’s crucial research to advance work in preventing and treating metastatic medulloblastoma, the most common primary malignant brain tumor in children.

Dr. Martin received the Hyundai Hope Scholar Grant, a $400,000 grant to support the effort led by the dedicated physicians and researchers at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) who continue to push forward innovative approaches in pediatric oncology.

To mark the recent award, pediatric cancer patients who had received treatment at CHAM gathered at the hospital to help decorate Dr. Martin’s lab coat by dipping their hands in paint and stamping their handprints on her new coat.

The Hyundai Hope on Wheels Foundation is providing invaluable support for our research into treatment for relapsed and refractory medulloblastoma patients who currently have no path to a cure. We are incredibly grateful for their support and excited about the future of this research project as a potential treatment for these patients,” said Dr. Martin.

Since 1998, Hyundai Hope On Wheels has donated $277 million toward pediatric cancer research. The funds come from more than 850 Hyundai dealerships nationwide, which donate a portion of each vehicle purchase, as well as from Hyundai Motor America.
